In the latest news via Monochrome, GS has released the US Exclusive Seasons Collection to selected countries worldwide. If a friend does this to me, it’s an instant loss of trust and perhaps the entire friendship too.

They did a trunk show here and left behind the US edition in the boutique in Sydney, where I thought it was an oddity and a goof opportunity to get something uncommon, so I bought it.

I hope to never be fooled by this “Exclusive” terminology anymore, unless it is truly a 50 piece limited edition. Even now, I’m worried about limited editions. What if they released a similar looking watch, with a slight tweak?

It's funny but if the limited edition is successful, then it's likely there will be future similar releases stepping on it's toes but if the limited edition is a bust then it will be truly limited. 😉

The customer is not dumb. They seem to think we customers are dumb and loyal to the end, even when they can turn their backs on us. Reminds me of the Can of Worms Panerai too, which Perezscope highlighted.

No more buying Grand Seiko or trust in their words that pieces are Country Exclusives. Actually to come think of it, I was silly to believe it was “exclusive” because these pieces could be bought online and shipped, even in the earlier days of their relea... 

It is really an integrity issue if watches were previously defined for their purpose. I admire GS but has been hesitant to add any because of their endless yearly celebrations and limited editions....I know I'm guilty because I like Omega limited editions... 

Those country exclusive seamasters (Moscow edition, Singapore edition etc) only available at boutiques in that selected country, to the whole world. They will never do this I am sure. Because reputation is important to them. But GS doesn’t honour their wo... 

This works for tourist who visits a certain country and get surprise to buy a nice souvenir.

The tourist buying it will feel cheated. It was supposed to be a special moment and it ended up a duped moment. But not saying Omega will do this. I believe they will never stoop to such levels. I hope so.

Also: Is Grand Seiko really that "grand". Maybe it should be Pretty Good Seiko and have a dog rather than a tiger.

Looking at it now, it is a big regret. To buy an exotic dog; only to find it is not an exotic dog.

As so many have noted, this problem is not EXCLUSIVE to Grand Seiko. Nor is it exclusive to the watch industry ... there are plenty of other marketeers doing the same thing. But in many ways I think this exemplifies the very great difference in thinking b...  

They make nice watches. They perfected the dial and case and hands. I have great things to say about the watch itself and the hands who made it.

They had to move them elsewhere. Maybe next time they won’t make so many “Exclusive” dials. Kent

If GS has sold a series of models „exclusively in the US“ this has nothing to do with „limited“. The US is a very big market and hundreds or thousands of these watches were sold without limitation. Considering this, it is nothing bad if such models can no... 

Exclusive mean exclusive. They did not say this is a limited series. They marketed it as a US exclusive and this is a unique selling point.
