New King Seikos are coming
Jun 01, 2023,13:54 PM
Seiko has announced 2 new King Seikos with 6L35 movements, slim 11mm cases, and boxed crystals, both based on the original King Seiko styling, at a price around $3500.
Although it was not the first King Seiko watch, the 1965 King Seiko KSK was, with its sharp, angular case and high functionality, the watch that defined King Seiko’s character. With its moisture resistance and use of a hacking seconds hand, the KSK was an eminently practical watch that earned legions of fans.
In 2022, Seiko has revived this classic style in the King Seiko collection. The resulting watches have the modern enhancements of contemporary watchmaking, and are powered by the slimline Caliber 6L35. This marks the movement's first appearance in the unlimited production King Seiko collection.
The hour and minute hands are faceted, demonstrating the quality manufacturing used for modern timepieces that honor the King Seiko legacy. On the black dial, the hands have a fine hairline finish that heightens the level of contrast with the dial’s dark surface and enhances legibility. A refined case design with slimmer lugs graces each new watch. They are faceted, with large, flat planes and sharp angles. The surfaces are polished to achieve a distortion-free, mirror finish, reflecting light in a manner that complements the new dials. The combination of an angular case with a flat dial with faceted hands effectively captures the refinement of the original 1965 KSK. Both watches come on a 7-link-wide bracelet with push-button clasp.
