Grand Seiko must have done something really right
Oct 27, 2018,12:02 PM
There is a pre-owned watch and jewellery store in my city that have been in business for over 30 years. The store only deal with mid to high end Swiss watches like Patek, Vacheron, AP Blancpain etc and of course a lot of Rolex. I never trade or buy from them cause I really like new and modern watches(just my preference). However two days ago when I visit their web site, and to my amazement, the store has a Grand Seiko Spring Drive GMT(2017 model) on its website. This is the first time I saw it because from time to time I visited its website to learn about the pre-owned watch market.
Long story short, the GS has a very attractive price, so I called to see whether it is still available. Yes, it is still available and I said can I trade one of my Cartier MC for it in order to save some sales taxes. Afterall, I do not wear my Tank MC much since I had it for two years. And today I went there and they gave me a very attractive trade-in and I got a almost brand new watch that was purchased by the previous owner on Sept.24th 2018. The sales said the customer that sold the watch to them is a wealthy stockbroker and a lot of the time he bought a watch and kept it for a few months and then sold it to them at a loss. His loss is my gain.
Now I am a happy owner of the GS spring drive GMT. The heft of the watch is amazing but not too heavy, Everything on the watch is perfect. Could not be happier!
