"So this is what the fuss is all about"

I enjoyed your story, welcome to the club. I had the same feelings. I'd been into watches for about 3-4 years, and gone through IWC, Sinn, Glashutte, Zenith, etc.

Finally I thought I was settling down with Omega, BlancpaiN and one independent from Paul Gerber (OK, and I had a half-dozen moderately-nice Seikos).

Then in November of 2004 this watch came into my life.

It was the genesis of a whole new way of appreciating watches - including studying so I could open, adjust and repair watches.  A few weeks later I added this "white titanium" automatic. Countless watches and 17 years later I still have both of them.

I could not have imagined that soon I would be going to Switzerland for two weeks on a watch junket, then to Japan to visit Seiko and Grand Seiko, becoming a moderator here, and so on.

Enjoy your new Grand Seiko! And be careful...

And, after quite some time, a new watch.

Greetings. I embarked upon a mini vacation/roadtrip to Charleston, SC a few weeks ago. It started to rain while I was walking around the city post- Ft. Sumter tour and… “hey, that’s a watch place.” “Look they even have that bright/Kelly green “ROLEX” sign...

Somehow this is all your fault…

I felt like I was there with you, in every step and with every emotion. Do you work in the creative writing field? Congrats. GS’s will always over-deliver. Wear it in good health Hussam

Nope, profession is about as far removed from

I have the steel GMT version with the black dial. Congrats!

That is a great looking GS.

You will certainly not be disappointed by the quality of the watch!

I’m definitely one to look in all the cases in every dealer or shop I’d walk in to.

Some of what have become my favourite watches are ones I’ve not been looking for and instead happened upon like your story here. My vote is for the NATO, to me almost all of modern GS are better not on the bracelet.

Yeah, funny how that works, eh? I wasn’t

really looking for anything in particular (aside from something made from unobtanium), but there it was. Go figure. And I think it’s going to stay on a NATO or strap of some kind.

I had an IWC (Mark XV). Sometimes I miss it.

No offense to anyone, but I prefer their offerings from a few generations ago over the latest iterations. If I had gotten a 3706 or period GST offering I’d probably still have it. Paul Gerber’s watches have always intrigued me. Simple yet not so simple..?...
