but the Seiko Galantes really are something very different.
Speaking of which, there doesn’t seem to have been anything new in that line, so I wonder if they’ve quietly been retired?

What do Seiko Enthusiasts think of the Grand Seiko Chrono, SBGC231 for 2019 limited to 500 pieces? Or the SBGY003 the manual wind Spring Drive new movement.

I love the watch... ticks all boxes fo me: Spring Drive Chrono (my favourite complication) GMT(great complication for travelers). Third time zone with bezel.... Amazing dial +- 0,5 sec / day LE And Grand Seiko finish !

The chronograph is a very big watch - 17mm thick

You need to be able to convince yourself that you want that bulk on your arm. I would not buy without finding a wear to wear one first. That's spoeaking as an impulsive buyer who's had a dozen Grand Seikos and related models... Have fun shopping! Cazalea ...

And I actually admire you as having such a nice collections of Grand Seiko, Seiko and related models, they all are very high quality.

The Chrono is a bit of a monster on the wrist, 44.5mm and 16.8mm thick.

If you have the wrist for it then perhaps. I didn’t find the dial that appealing in person; different for sure but not appealing to me. For me, and this is purely personal taste, I would prefer to add a more classically proportioned and styled spring-driv...
