Had my eye on this model for a while

You could not have picked a better piece for your first Grand Seiko. This is the very best re-creations of a vintage watch I have ever seen. Among other attributes, no dimension of this watch is more than 2mm larger than the original. And that is only because the newer movement now contains a manual winding mechanism which the original did not have.

Not only is this an amazing piece from a historical point of view, I believe that it is one of the most beautiful dress watches that was ever made. The lines of the case, crystal and the fact it has no bezel, all contribute to it's beauty, along with it's moderate dimensions. I just noticed one thing for the first time while looking at your photos: It is one of very few Grand Seiko models - and possibly the only one - that does not have lug holes.

I could go on about this watch forever. Congratulations!

Sure! I love how monochromatic it looks. The case is insane and the zaratsu polishing is awesome. The watch is thicker than I would like, but seems to wear fine. Boxtop crystal is impressive. Dial is great, markers are great, hands are really impressive. ...

Congrats! That is a very, very nice....

Congrats! It is an absolute beauty and one that is hard to strip from your wrist. Bad form for a first post, but I really need to ask if the second hand jumps backwards when you adjust time counterclockwise.
