WRUW this week? My new purchase : 1983 Tudor Advisor

Found one in near mint condition, without box and papers. At 35 mm, it is the smallest watch in my collection, but wears nicely on my wrist, maybe because of the silver dial and thin bezel. The watch came with matching old Rolex bracelet...yes, that old, crappy and rattly bracelet smile. Although its fine and I don't have problem with it, I much prefer this baby on leather. I like the sharp, beveled lugs, and heavily domed Plexiglas. Now the not-so-great news : i've asked RSC to give it complete service, not because anything is wrong with it (all the functions are normal and the power reserve still healthy at 40 hours), but just to clean, replace the gaskets and re-oiling, for the sake of peace mind. To my surprise, the RSC will not do it. They don't do service for any watch that is not on their database anymore. Including any Rolex with 4-digits ref. They only service 5-digit rolexes and newer Tudors. They don't even want to help to send to RSC singapore or anywhere else. I have to bring the watch myself. They also remind me that even RSC singapore may not service it and I have to send it straight to Geneva. I was very impressed with RSC service when I brought my 114270 few months ago. The best service that I ever experienced, worthy of Rolex name. But I am a bit underwhelmed by this new information. 4-digit rolex and vintage tudor are collectible, beautiful and timeless. I have plan to collect them in the future, but this policy might force me to think again. I don't understand why they do this. While many of us would bring vintage rolexes to private/independent watchmakers, in certain countries like where I live, its very difficult to find a trusted watchmaker who is willing and able to service in-house calibers. So the official service center is our best bet. Sorry for the rant. For you that live in Indonesia may need to know this. Now I am looking for a watchmaker that can service this watch (already found 1 who declined because he is worry that if some parts damaged when serviced, he cannot find the original parts, especially Rolex/Tudor with their strict policy). Have a great day everybody smile stay safe and healthy.

Don't worry about servicing an in-house caliber

Since this model uses a A. Schild 1475 alarm caliber, a very common one found on many vintage alarm watches from many brands such as Girard Perregaux, Angelus and many others. So you only have to look for a very honest and qualified watchmaker to service ...

Looks great & enjoy wearing it 🙂
