When your watch is stolen...what to do
Jul 14, 2020,14:28 PM
Stolen watch? Next steps:
- File a police report (regardless of whether insured or not)
- Report to the major stolen watch registries (TWR, Alpha Hands, mystolenwatch)
- Report to your insurance company if applicable
- Report to manufacturer
- Post loss online to watch forums
- Report to major pawn shops and dealers in your area
Other tips:
- Make sure you have the serial number, purchase receipts/proof of ownership and pictures
- Insure as necessary
- Consider a home safe (or safe deposit box)
- Be aware of your surrounding - all too many stories of watches snatched when owners aren't paying attention (talking on cell phones, interacting with strangers, etc.)
- Don't be flashy

Reading what these investigators do to track down stolen watches is pretty interesting. While they may be able to help, it’s never guaranteed.

Home robbery
By: subregister : July 15th, 2020-11:45
I believe that most robberies of watches, jewelry and other goods occur when the homeowner is not present. I haven't as I recall read of any case where someone on the forum was robbed while at home and their watches taken, but have read a number of thefts...
And if they are at home

Is there a greater chance of a massacre due to there being a safe? Would be great to see any stats available - thanks!
