 By: Bill : May 1st, 2021-20:39
This is a simple side by side comparison of the Rolex Daytona 116500 vs Rolex Zenith 16520. Both are black dials. On the surface there is a lot more similar aspects than one would imagine. I will let the pictures do the talking. Rolex Daytona 116500 vs 16...

Thank you, Bill, now I see why I prefer the Zenith 16520 to the Rolex Rolex Dayto.

Bigger gap between the lugs and the case on the 116500, Thicker case on the 116500 ( at least on the pictures ) and most importantly for me, I much prefer the sub dials of the 16520 compare to those of the 116500 whose minute and hour counters are closer ...

What do you mean Nicolas, I’m not sure I see this. In agreement re the position of the sub-dials. Also for me, I chose the 16520 because the black bezel on black dial of the modern Daytona just doesn’t look as good in my eyes. Purely personal preference. ...

I think you may change your mind when you see them there is no size difference.

The sub dials yes that is less elegant on the 116500 ...

Thanks Bill, I'm coming out of your photo essay thinking,

I borrowed a friends white dial a few years ago and was able to spend some time with it and my 16520 (Black). Of course I didn’t think to document it in pictures. Next time !

Thank you Bill!

Excellent comparison! I have the same two Daytonas plus a white 116520. The 16520 is my favorite for the looks but functionally I prefer the Rolex movement to the Zenith based one. Actually my 116520 gets the most wrist time but I would not want to part w...

Nice comparison Bill.

For me the 16520 wins the beauty competition but the ceramic wins the IQ test. Both are great watches and I have to say that I think Rolex did a fantastic job with the latest upgrade by just giving a little nod to the years gone by without going the whole...

Thank you for sharing your photos. To me it is all about the dial layout, the Zenith version is for me perfect

My vote goes for the Zenith version, thinner hour marks and most of all the 3 sub-dials placement. Of course there is more interesting and desirable dials colours with the Rolex/Rolex version, but each time I get stuck on the asymmetry of the dial.

I don’t disagree but I think they did a great job keeping the portions

Too often newer model are getting bigger to meet the market but in this case nicely balanced. As for the dial yes the 16520 is more refined because it is always hard to beat the original. But on the wrist the 116500 is a great option. For the first time b...

Love my white 116520...

I'm really jonesing for Black Ceramic now. I think it would be the perfect compliment. Yeah, Rolex really nailed it with the the black ceramic bezel and black dial. Not a fan of the new white dial.
