Rolex Submariner 116610 LV aka Hulk, Oman. What do you think?

While it is probable that the Rolex " Oman " from the 60's and the 70's had some military background, I don't think it is true anymore, with the 116610.

Here is one which was recently auctioned, by Antiquorum.

Not the only one, as there is also the new GMT MASTER " Oman ".

I have my own idea on that matter, but do you feel it is worth the " substantial " premium?

Best,

Nicolas

It was a nice means of differentiating what was otherwise a pretty common watch (be it a Sub, Day-Date or other). But this, I just don't see the point. (And I'm ignoring completely the desire that one may have for an "issued" watch, be it military, govern...

That makes sense. [nt]

I'm not going to opine on the desirability of an Omani government-issued or official royal family gift watch, but pass unless 1) Rolex itself has included some kind of authenticating document like an invoice with commissioned work listed 2) an attestation...

Tim, curious to understand if 1), 2) or 3) are present for all those vintage Rolex with similar stamp/marking on the dial side.

(I'm not a vintage Rolex guy, and while I see these in the auctions all the time I don't pay much attention).

I have looked into these a bit.

The authentic modern Omani like the one Nico shows here should all come from the same dealer in Muscat- Khimji Ramdas and they should bear the warranty card from there. I’d be skeptical of one without that provenance. Also, these are not issued watches, b...
