People have a concept of gilt being gold colored letterings, But they are white letterings from the 1960s onward.
Original gilt is silver colored the Rhodium layer under the colors which shine trough the white sometimes they turn brass colored and appears gold colored.
Now they used Rhodium on the dial untill the mid 1970s ( as mk 4 dials of seadwellers still turned tropical due to Rhodium )
One of the most fake dials is the red seadweller .
Next time what you really want to look for is the rhodiun shining through the red .
