No wonder this is such a sensation

Rolex did such tremendous job with the Sky Dweller. Every time
I put mine on and set the calendar I am just blown away by how innovative the watch is yet how Rolex managed to remain true to their original design DNA.

Just enjoying sharing an old picture above, from today at the office:

Thinking about this reference today and planning my future watch purchase, I would say based on today’s available lineup the perfect Crown collection for me would be a 43 Sea Dweller as the ultimate beater watch, a green dialed DayDate as an office watch, the blue sky dweller as a travel watch, and perhaps the platinum Yacht Master just because it’s so charming, and the meteorite Daytona in white gold on rubber, the uniqueness and overall visual impact of that reference finally got me excited about the Daytona.

What would be your perfect five Rolex collection? Would love to hear which models other WIS live and why

I don’t know a lot about rolex, but I do know the Sky D is one cool complication!

I love the clean dial of the AC execution. I am curious why the fluted bezel needed to be Gold. That being said, I would include a SD4K and a ND Sub.

Interesting choices

I believe the gold bezel is to add a bit of luxury to the watch. Rolex tend to include platinum and gold in all their watches to emphasize a luxury upmarket product categorization. Some people like that, others don’t. I have to say I a big fan of the addi...

Ahh nice to know… I too like precious white metals… and at first I associate the fluted bezel

With an “old” design; but perhaps it’s growing on me 😁

One mans old design

I just prefer the sea dweller 43, sits better on my wrist. Deep blue sure is cool though

IMHO the best rolex complication

Agreed

Though the day date is the better watch overall, the SD is definitely the better complication. Rolex really surprised me with how innovative yet able to remain true to their design aesthetic. I keep hoping we will see more of this in the future.

Your observation about the coupling of innovation with the Rolex aesthetic is so true.

I have a Sub and an OP 39 — very pleased with both — not really feeling the urge for another, but if I did it would be a SS Daytona.

A True Rolex

Simple and reliable innovation from the user's perspective. We timepiece enthusiasts know that Rolex single-handedly modernized away from the complicated task of side pushers for setting. At the same time, Rolex rewards us with exceptional waterproofness....

Looks fantastic on your wrist!

Agreed on Rolex doing water proofing right. I love Patek and Vacheron but just don’t get why they can’t modernize their watches, at least as a safety concern to protect the delicate movements

Relatively easy one.

That platinum Daytona is killer! wow

I have seen it worn on tiny wrists

These days it’s pretty normal to see watches extend beyond the wrist. Give it a try
