But what are your feelings on this Daytona? As for me, I must confess that even at the retail I am not interested anymore.

I fell in love with my 16520 again, a Daytona which I find better than the current one, with its perfectly aligned sub dials. Look at the current one, the sub dials at 3 and 9 are more toward 2 and 10 o clock. They should be just between 2 and 10 and 4 and 8 o clock, like it is the case with the 16520.

Best,

Nicolas

Mixed feelings for Daytona 116500LN...

 By: Noak(marc.gmt8) : September 7th, 2020-18:42
Daytona. I wanted it so badly when it was launched back in 2016, but the hype and therefore waitlist made it impossible and so...I move on. Fast forward to 2020 and I was presented the opportunity to purchase the 116500LN at MSRP. The love is no longer as...

Yeah.

My AD asked me if I wanted either a white or black one and after considering and trying both on, I passed. It should have been something I craved but honestly, the hype and the actual look and feel was underwhelming. I was happy to let the next folks have...

Too late I'm sure :-)

This was weeks ago.

Nice shots of your Daytona !

I was the other way round - I wasn’t into Daytonas and other sports Rolexes years ago (was a dress watch, Lange/Montblanc Villeret/JLC/indies guy) but the herd instincts got into me (yes I’m weak minded lol). After I started getting my sports Rolexes from...

Thanks for the compliment Robin!

I will have to give it a bit more time and see if I can develop a feeling for this. I admit it’s a really a lovely timepiece in terms of color combination, ceramic bezel and curvy case, but there’s a bit too much hype and being recognizable isn’t a fun th...

Most welcome my friend

Keep the Daytona ! Enjoy it from time to time and it will grow on you

I thought I’m the only one with this feelings!

“The Daytona”, the watch that most want! I went trough all modern models starting with the Zenith all the way to the recent one, I couldn’t bond with eider. All had faults that at the time couldn’t accept or matched with my expectations. The Zenith with t...

The new sub is a killer for me :) [nt]

...but haven't had the chance to play with it (Covid). But I was very surprised at how slim it was... It really is a beautiful watch. Were I to get a Rolex to complement my old Sub this might be it.

I know many people who don't like the new Daytona, and many who love it...It just comes down to one's taste, so if you don't love it you can easily move it, else enjoy it to the fullest! :-)

Here's my one and only Daytona, which I'll never sell....I believe it's the prior generation to yours. Cheers. ...

Beautiful specimen, Fabrice!

As also are your shirts. Best. René

Thanks for the additional info Fabrice!

Yes, your friend’s 1675 is also very beautiful 😍😍😍 And special. As also his taste for clothing. But I tend to like more the one like yours. More outspoken or bold. I can’t find the right term to describe it. But I find it more to my taste. Best regards an...

Lovely shots!

Yes, that’s the prior generation and that’s the color combination to get! Many years back, it was being displayed at the AD, unfortunately a lady 20 seconds ahead of me sat down and bought it right away for her husband. He’s a lucky man! Enjoy your watch ...

You have 1 or 2 Daytona ? :-), your first photo shows that you have it on a fluted bezel ;-)

 By: PoyFR : September 8th, 2020-01:51
Nice photo. Let's name it this Daytona, The Dallas Style ;-)

It is a beautiful watch

And also your pictures are superb! Just remember what happened with the original Paul Newman Daytonas. At first nobody wanted them, now they are grails! I think eventually it will grow more and more into you, until you can’t take it off. But if not, you w...

Thank you for your kind words!

Time will tell if I can develop a strong feel for this watch again but I won’t sell it, perhaps one of my sons may like it more.

Look forward..it is a great piece

 By: Cookies : September 7th, 2020-21:11
I understand your woes fully. You are lucky to get such a wonderful piece directly from the AD. Hope to see more wristshots of it. This piece will likely always be in demand, and scarce.

Should it stay or should it go.....

I personally do not use watches an investment vehicles. I acquire watches that I find interesting, and I wear them. If I find I’m not wearing one of my watches often or if my eyes get tired of looking at its lines then off it goes to a new owner. But this...

Many people ask me if I would get one of these Rolex Daytonas if given the opportunity. I say unequivocally YES! And I'd wear it too! Some people only want to wear Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin timepieces, they think why wear a Rolex when you've ...

My exact sentiments!

I had mine for a month and could not fall in love with it despite the hype. A fellow purist is now the proud owner of the watch

Daytona

I am not a Daytona fan or love or do not like. Just have no click with that watch. I think it’s because i like other watches. I have dream watches, and no experience with a dream watch which is afterwards a regret.

But what are your feelings on this Daytona? As for me, I must confess that even at the retail I am not interested anymore.

When I look at it, I see a very beautiful watch, but there’s no deep affection, yet. I can see why you prefer 16520 over current offering, it’s like 5070 vs 5170, the sub dial layout definitely looks more balanced.

That's it. [nt]

Same here ,i m not even tried the 116500

what s cool in the 16520 and the 116520

 By: Passionata_george : September 8th, 2020-02:14
that those are like a rightly sized DJ with a chrono complication , all done very elegantly and sporty , the 116500 it s too loudly a sportswatch to my taste .

You mean on the 16520? [nt]

Yup. 16520 vs 116520 [nt]

The Daytona is not for me. never liked it, probably never will. It has nothing to do with the Hype, couldn't care less about that. It's just the overall design, especially the screwed down pushers and the hour markers, that doesn't trigger me. If I think ...

This is one reason I wait months before making a decision

 By: Uncle Chico : September 8th, 2020-02:08
I have changed my mind after the initial interest based on research, deliberation and feedback from owners. Although the Daytona is my favorite dial among the Rolex offerings.

I think this has happened to a few here. After such a long wait for something, the excitement wears off. Like everyone else has stated...

I would also suggest to wear it and see if you bind with it after a little time. Regardless, you have an exceptionally well made timepiece 😁👍

No doubt there are plenty of better luking and more horologically inclined chronographs available. The ..

proposition of ST Daytona is its docile playfulness- its 40mm, robust, automatic, easily serviceable, 72hr PR with vertical clutch, accurate and sporty. No other watch so far checks all those boxes. It is definitely not its collectibility or value. Vintag...

For those who are Grand Prix fans or folks working on a racing team will definitely fall in love with it. I own the same model as yours, I also figure how I can better use the chronograph.

I am admit the craftsmanship of the Daytona is impressive. The bracelet is butter smooth and the size of the casing is just perfect for me. No date is great plus but somehow I like my Explorer 1 more.
