It appeals to me because it's unique, “rare”. Not your common date just.

What about servicing concerns? Given that quartz is reliable as long as the battery doesn’t bleed on it. Anything I need to consider like scarcity of parts?

Obviously we cannot condone any battery operated watch 🙄

😉 but if you really like it simply ask an official Rolex AD about the serviceability. Plus make them open up the case to inspect the movement. That way you will know for sure about the state of the watch. On the other hand, if the seller is a trusted shop...

Thanks for the warning.

Something to consider.

What is the failure rate of this movement?

I know you need to keep changing batteries 2 to 3 years. Or less than 1 if unlucky. You mean that will cost more than servicing an automatic in the long run?

Eeeek! [nt]

You dont need a complete service when you change de battery every three years. I think a service after three batterys i ok.

I know a case with a steel gold Oysterquarz with a ruined movement. My friend is watchmaker in a AD and he told me from this watch, the invoice was 1800,-Euros! Better than the Oysterquarz is the same case with the automatic movement. There are only a few...

Ah. Too many negatives.

I guess I’ll stick with a modern DJ as my first Rolex.
