On the fence whether to go date or sub..
Jun 13, 2019,19:24 PM
Did you go through that or did you prefer the sub right off the bat?
I think the best modern iteration would've been the Kermit but with the usual black bezel as I really prefer the maxi dial on a 16610 case. I prefer the cyclops/date in that iteration. With the 116610, the date is not as pronounced which is pity because i like the datewheel font and how it pops out more on a 16610 case.
Which is why aesthetics-wise, i can understand how the 114060 can be close to perfect. Having said that, I feel like it may be too balanced for me. I don't know. In an ideal world, I'd get both specimens from each generation.
I'm just waiting for something to click inside before I decide.
Great piece you have!
Best,
Echi

To have a marker at number three. I get it. This is always how they intended for the submariner to look. Pure business. No frills. All machine.

The design loves balance. Every circle marker is matched across the dial with another circle marker, for balance. The whole design of this dive watch has always been about balance - which is what attracted me to its design, originally. Variants of the des...

Another thing I like about the sub is that without the cyclops, I noticed that my eyes focus on the totality of the dial more. I appreciate the Rolex font/logo more, for example. With the date, my eyes go to the date. On the plus side, the date makes the ...
