This time on the subject of Rolex's Chronergy technology. With all of the talk of waitlists and absurd secondhand prices, it is very tempting (and understandably so) to want to completely avoid the brand. However, it is worth remembering that they are one of the few companies still on the quest to squeeze better performance out of the mechanical watch. This article by Tim Lake goes into great detail on the origins and characteristics of the Chronergy system. Aside from being a fantastic read, this article serves as a reminder that despite the garbage coming out of Rolex and most of the watch media complex, there is still excellence to be found in both.
