20th birthday present for my ten year old son
Picked up a new watch today, Rolex Explorer 1 fresh from the Zurich boutique. Waiting time has been around 3 months, not too bad.
The catch is that the watch is not for me but for my ten year old son ... for when he’ll turn 20.
The Explo is perfect for this occasion: Rolex will most probably still be around 10 years from now (hopefully), the watch will still be “above the trends” and low profile enough for what (I hope) will be an active student. Why buying it now? Simply because having a 10 years NOS will make it a bit more special... and with the annual price increases we’re used to see I’m actually saving a bit of money 
That’s not even a trick to get to enjoy the watch myself, it will be sitting at the bank as on next Monday...
