You are aware of your reflexive movements from constant drill and practice. Hopefully considering what else you may be carrying and wearing and all of the above will help guide you on what hand to wear your watch. Only you would know what makes the most operational sense. It is a tool watch and you are a "working man". Years of muscle movement, your neck might automatically nod left and your wrist turn over. Could cost you vital seconds. Check and Test. Check and Test.

Your intuition is correct
The 16570 should fit better on you than the newer larger iteration. Unfortunately wrist comfort won't improve with familiarity. 16570 just fits everyone better, even larger-wristed folk. I ask to wear my wife's 16570 from time to time as its 40mm case fit...
Left handed here. I wear my watch on my left wrist. And sometimes, but very rarely, on my right wrist, too. Size is not really a problem for a 7'' wrist. I can wear 32 mm to 47 mm watches.
Now, as for the Explorer II, I much prefer the former version, the 16570. I find it more harmonious in size and design. But it is just my taste. Best, Nicolas
