Travel note: Bangkok and Hong Kong International airport Rolex boutiques
Oct 31, 2019,23:01 PM
I just returned from Thailand via HK and because they were on my path, I entered the luxury Rolex boutiques in Em Quartier in Bangkok and the two level Rolex boutique in HK International airport.
At the luxury mall in Bangkok (where an Audi event happened to be occurring), the Rolex boutique had in display cases a steel submariner green dial (aka "Hulk") and a steel new GMT with ceramic bluish/reddish insert on jubilee bracelet (aka "Pepsi") which were proudly marked "non-functional for display only". As for stainless steel Rolex mens watches of any model, the Em Quartier had exactly ZERO (i.e., none). This includes submariners, explorers, GMTs, OPs, and datejusts, not to mention sky dwellers, sea dwellers, etc etc
At Hong Kong International airport, the Rolex boutique had exactly one stainless steel mens watch: a black dial steel datejust with white gold fluted bezel.
I might add that I was the only customer in both boutiques during both of my visits.
Whereas the lady clerks at Em Quartier were warm and inviting, as well as apologetic for Rolex (despite the situation being no fault of their own, of course), the lady agents at Hong Kong airport were cold, although the lady who was "helping" me at HKI did say she could sell me a yellow gold submariner which they had in stock
I wish I could be as dismissive of my (real and possible) clientele as Rolex, and still be a "model" for brand recognition and envy...
Time to sleep and see how the jet lag goes!
