There was a post somewhere two years ago (at the time of the last Only Watch) about the tax deductibility on winning bids given it’s a charity.

I think from a US tax payer perspective unless the charity is registered in the US it’s not deductible.  So an contribution to an overseas charity is not usually deductible.  There might be some exceptions based on tax treaties the US has with various countries.

The thread two years ago was questioning if the charity could ensure that US contributions were deductible then perhaps that would be a positive for funds raised as it may encourage more bidders.

Someone told me the Gronefeld was purchased by a US collector so maybe I can find out what he did.

350,000 CHF for the ceramic black bay is insane. Absolutely bonkers. Yes, it is for charity. So how much can one claim as a tax deduction? One must subtract the "retail" value of the item obtained in charity auctions. What is the retail value of this watc...

Thank you for having writing down my question.

But sorry I don’t have the output. Some here may. But I think tax reductions depend on where you live. I don’t know if one can claim for one. Anyway, the prices fetched for most of the pieces are just insanes. But this is for a good cause so why not?

That’s true. [nt]

Tudor never makes a piece unique

If Rolex would make one unique watch for the same auction .. a unique non complicated watch, it would fetch at least 10 times more So it's extremely rare to be able to buy such a piece. It's clear Tudor is a fantastic brand and more and more people are co...

It's too much for a Tudor. But whoever won. Congratulations, you have a kind heart.

you know the value of watches to people is really quite subjective.
