Perhaps its because I suddenly belong to the old school here in the forum...

But I have never, never, ever purchased a watch as an investment nor could I ever imagine myself doing so. And yes, I do care about making money. That’s how I make a living and pay for my hobby. It is simply against my “religion” as a watch collector. I suppose I was groomed by the old guard here (the Purists). I guess it makes me look like a real fool considering today’s rise in prices but I always learned “only buy what you love” and “if you want to make a small fortune in watches- start with a big one.” Yes, things are hot right now but that doesn’t mean it’s a one way street.
Even if I have too many watches right now, I still believe in “only buy what you love”. That’s keeping me busy enough.
I think it’s a shame to see where this hobby is going. It used to be about an esoteric passion. About camaraderie together with your fellow nerd. The last few years, it seems, every one wants to turn their passion and hobby in to a business. Or at least “neben geschaft”. How sad!

The lady do not have any emotions when i ask to show me a Millgaus. Turning and went to IWC, the people were interested and explained how the watches made and work.

of my Deepsea purchase a few months back. I went to a local jeweler who is an AD for IWC and Rolex. I had pretty much given up on looking for items with Rolex ADs just because it seemed like a waste well I was in a local shop here looking for a particular...

I hope I am wrong and they come through on the other piece I am waiting for. If not, there are always other dealers and other watches.
Depends on the end game perhaps. ADs can get weird.

When the Skydweller was released I got offered the blue one by an AD that I had only done a little business with. I was concerned about the size for a watch with a fluted bezel. I passed. About a year later got treated to "I offered you a blue Skydweller ...

Personably I don’t care about what others peoples do or think (except my family and friends). So if some have a strange idea like buying a watch they don’t like, I don’t care. It’s just not my way of being. Watches are for me things that I like to discove...
