Only slightly more durable from my understanding

Regardless, it may be difficult for me to swallow the 20k difference between a platinum and gold day date when the total precious metal content of the gold version is worth more

This video clip by CRM Watches did an experiment and this will solve our queries which we all have till now! You will be surprised.. 😂 well I did. 🥂

Gold value fluctuates ... Platinum is more durable. And you won't lose any weight with scratches or polishing

That's also correct, the density of platinum is certainly one of the reasons (though perhaps not the main one) behind its higher value...

Platinum is roughly 34% more dense than 18k gold, meaning that the volume corresponding to 3 grams of gold requires about 4 grams of platinum ;-)

On a per ounce basis, gold is currently more than double the price of platinum

So platinum would need to be nearly twice as dense as gold to be worth as much by volume.

Agree, as I said many factors are involved in setting the price of platinum, but the most important of them I’m sure are not tangible (rarity, prestige, etc...)

In fact, no matter its price relative to gold, I can’t really imagine a situation where a gold watch will cost more..just not consistent with what the market expects😉
