Only if purchasing new; many possible directions exist

A used 2000s Milgauss GV, 1980s "triple six" Sea-Dweller, or 1990s steel/gold Daytona all represent excellent value and potential fun without providing any revenues to Rolex. With the company's five year warranties on recent models, you can pick from many options still covered without supporting Rolex on the new-retail side. Also, the blue dial 116622 Yacht-Masters remain a good buy used at market rates.

Concerning recognition, I'm not sure that any major brand will recognize individual collectors for loyalty or lack thereof. Dealers, yes, but not brands. We on the collecting side tend to hold fast to this romantic notion more than the manufacturers we patronize.
Best,
Tim

The root beer saga continues ... Went to watches of Switzerland and while I was waiting for wifey I asked if by any chance they would help me getting on a waiting list for the root beer... given I have been their customer for my datejust in the past how d...

they want to make themselves more than what they really are...

Well said... Buy an omega instead!

That kind of disdain for your customers just makes me angry!

Unacceptable customer service and customer experience. In my younger days - I would have told the shop assistant to go f$

I did not go that far

but tried to explain politely that it's a bit nonsense to offer someone some bread when the person is actually thursty ... Kev

Hi Kev, I do understand you want a root beer (you've made it abundantly clear), and I'm always the first to show support when people are treated unfairly or arrogantly at an AD...

However, I believe these complaints need to be substantial in order not to make *all* complaints lose credibility in the long run. Can I ask what you are again telling us now? I also don't like this Rolex policy, but you seem to enjoy visiting ADs in one ...

fair enough ...

But to be entirely honest I get that this watch is difficult to find, I only randomly went to these ADs as I was around...who knows... I'm not complaining about the fact that i probably have to wait for another year or 2 before I can finally get one (this...

Kev, I hear you BUT this is the game. And it’s not going to change unless Rolex (Patek, AP etc) explicitly prohibit their ADs from doing this, and I’m not sure any have the interest to do so.

I would keep up your random drop-ins at various ADs. People have gotten these watches randomly, I know this. Now, as FabR says, if the sales staff are rude then that’s just not on and something should be said. But if they are merely exposing the rules of ...

yes fully agree i'll also explore ADs from other countries as I travel by .. who knows

 By: Watch_kha_wen : December 14th, 2019-15:01
Again, my point is not about the watch being rare to find or even the waiting list though. But I guess a bit more "tact" from the salesman won't harm anyone - I used to help th family business while I was studying and one thing I've learnt was to respect ...

I am sorry to hear this...

But its one of the reasons I also went my own route for better or worse (in most cases apparently worse - since its not the common path - haha, which i don’t regret).

Kev...

Unfortunately this is the real world and I suggest that you simply buy an alternative brand.

There are countless past and present (awesome) Rolex models that nobody is chasing

They can be bought today. If I were you, I'd try to fall in love with something a bit outside the mainstream, buy it, and treasure it. Much of the meaning we invest in our watches comes from living our lives with them. Best, Tim

I am actually hesitating with

The yachtmaster in 37 with the rubber strap in rose gold. I found it available already but I can pull the trigger on only one for now I want to go for one I really really like and in that case I am still a bit hesitant. If they release a one gold one in 3...

Shopped exclusively at my AD for the past 5 years and bought a multitude of watches as well as introduced him to friends who have also purchased from him. He has done pretty well out the relationship. Now if I want a Pepsi, daytona or batman and ask... I ...

I can only agree with you but on indeed exclusive pieces like Daytona or nautilus etc... In my case I understand from these ADs they can get one in less than a year without problem but will not help unless you have a relationship with them. It’s more the ...

Thanks for adding that. Kev

I would consider to abandon those beaten paths. First you should ask yourself if you really love the watch or if you more love that it is so hard sought after? In the second case your are on the mainstream path and IMHO have to rival with watch lovers as ...

Yes and to be honest I am in this situation

 By: Watch_kha_wen : December 15th, 2019-01:45
But still try when I pass by an AD to ask if there would be any way to get it. But agree I am not super actively looking for it anyway. Kev

Fine! 😊 [nt]
