I love the first picture, stunning! I actually find the 14060m to be submariner's highest point (in terms of wearability, not as much on character). Later models don't sing as loud to me. The kermit looks great, but it rarely sits on my wrist

I’ve been on a back and forth with this watch. You know how it goes. Research, hunt, then when you finally nail a very good specimen, you think to yourself, hmmm, does it live up to expectations? That’s where the ownership process comes in. I usually don’...

You love it.

Open your hand and enjoy!

Thanks for the analysis — both the intellectual and the emotional side.

I am a very deliberate watch purchaser (same is true with fountain pens) with lots of mulling over pros and cons. That is a lot of fun — the exploratory phase. Last year when I saw the Panerai in the window of an AD — it just called my name. That being sa...

Exploratory phase, how rightly so. My tastes hew toward boring classics for the most part so it’s hard to make bad choices per se. It’s the little things that we try to figure out if it’s a charming quirk or an annoying characteristic..

.. which can be a fine line in some cases hence the need to just plow through the experience and see how we come out on the other side. Thanks for chiming in with your Panerai experience. Good to read it

Thank you for sharing the journey, thus far :)

What makes the sub what it is?

The bezel! It’s the trademark taper into the knurled teeth and unique ratchet action that IMO set this watch apart from all others. I’m a Seamaster guy but I’m the first person to admit that the Submariner is absolutely unique in this way.

I absolutely agree. To add, the bezel edges give off a nice shine similar to the fluted bezel on a datejust.. of course not as blingy but it’s the part that my eyes look at first. I am quite enjoying the appreciation process..

Which is funny considering I could have gotten this one more than 15 years ago but chose the SMP300 ref 2254 instead. It took me a long time to warm up to the sub aesthetic as I found it boring before versus the Omega. I should do a side by side at some p...

I just bought mine recently and can totally relate to thinking about it when not wearing it. Enjoy!

Thanks!
