Select exclusive dealers and those that are considered boutiques. They can place orders but they don't know when the order gets fulfilled.

When a new place comes in to the store they will let the sales advisor know. It is for the sales advisor to let clients know what came in or whatever looking for. It is first come first serve.

I am so glad i have no interest in Rolex. Until the customers say “enough of this nonsense” and move their purchasing $$$ to other brands - this will not change. Rolex is a mass produced consumer product (a LUXURY consumer product) but still mass-produced...

Europe, North America, Middle East and Far East may all have slightly different practices. Even different countries within those regions may have different practices but for the most part the original poster is still correct.

My UK based AD has about 5 senior Sales Assistants (SAa). Having spoken with my SA, I understand they take it in turns to sell the sought after watches to one of their key clients (each SA has several key clients) but they don't know what stock they will ...
