Evolving taste

For the fans of this model, here’s a pic of my 16570.

I post this for two reasons.
1. It’s what I’m wearing today
2. Over time I’ve grown to really love the thinness of this watch.

For years I never minded height on a watch.  (Offshore, big pilot
, crosswind, sea dwellers, etc.   But during the last year or so I’ve really started to love slimmer profile watches.  Not to the point where it’s as thin as the strap but thinner sport models I should say.
This is one of my thinnest in my collection and I love it more today than when I first bought it years ago.  As for the jangly bracelet, I love that too!
So because of this I have my eye on yet another neo vintage piece with similar thinness.  Oh boy, here we go again 🤦🏻‍♂️😂🙈
Also final note: I much prefer this model to the 42mm explorer ii. Just my opinion 🥂

So does the 42mm... just different, I have them both.

Thanks so much!

Maybe if I tried the 42 on, I’d have a better idea but from pictures I seem to prefer the 40 but you never know I do however like the nod of the orange gmt hand 👍🏽

I felt the same way about my 16550

And since letting it go have always craved to get back a black dial 16570. The overall size and proportion just make it so easy so wear and deal with anything that comes. Even the jangly bracelet - same thought there too - somehow it is easier and more co...

Wow!!!!😳🤯

What a stunning quartet!!! Thanks for sharing!! One of my grails is that 1655. I just love everything about that design.

My first "luxury" watch ; bought mine second hand back in 1984 for relatively little money.

About 20 years later a guy in Bangkok offered me $8500 on the spot and I'm glad I refused, even though I never liked the acrylic too much and already back then the Tritium wasn't that active anymore.

Also the bezel polished bevels

On these references are just so nice - that inner polished ring, and the outer polished ring - are just lovely. Really give the watch just the slightest elegance / character polish that the larger newer pieces do not have.

+++1!

And yea the more I have this I just like the lightweight bracelet. You nailed it with “easier” not sure why that word is perfect to my ears but it is 😄👍🏽

Somehow I replied to your comment on the wrong comment 🤦🏻‍♂️ 😆

It’s further down in the comments. I’m on my mobile phone and got mixed up lol

You are right, the 16570 ( and the former references 16550 and 1655 ) are superb references, with a lot of charm, and still under the radar.

To be honest, I never liked the current Explo II. Big, and well, messy dial with this mix of references. For you... ...

+1
