I admit, Im bias since I have the same model watch smile and for all Rolex fans out there who also like a rocker sterling sulver bracelet, do check out what Chrome Hearts is doing. This is not an advertising pitch but they have some really cool stuff smile

A few months ago, I tried on a friend's Submariner.

That was the first time I ever had a Rolex on my wrist. The feeling made quite an impression on me. I never desired to own a Rolex, but after that experience, I had to try one. Here it is: ...

Interesting...so many of us came to watches through Rolex, including me...

To have never tried one on your wrist...you are a rarity! They are great watches, for sure. Too ubiquitous IMO (a testament to their greatness, among other things) and noticeable, but they are for sure nice, well-engineered and well-built. They deserve th...

I know it is hard to believe. I think because they are so well known is why I never wanted one.

 By: MichaelC : September 19th, 2019-13:09
Maybe that was short sighted. Years ago, a good friend obtained a prominent job and asked me "should I buy a Rolex or a Cartier?" "Neither" was my reply. He wanted one because that is what other people know. I revel in the fact that I can wear an Audemars...

Same here. I really like wearing watches that only enthusiasts would know.

I still have my 25 yrs old submariner (bought new), but I rarely wear it. I do still appreciate it, however, and for over 10 years it was all I wore all day, every day.

I can say clearly I do appreciate it already

I believe I have added a long term keeper. I feel able to understand a quality timepiece; this one is certainly that.

Pelagos

the new 'real world' Sub? Try one. Rapwatch

Maybe next time. My struggle w/ Tudor is the snowflake hand.

 By: MichaelC : September 19th, 2019-14:05
It does not appeal to my tastes.

I am similar to you, Michael

except I jumped the train 4 years ago. I now have couple that I thoroughly enjoy. I even sold one of them and then rebought it. I’m not sure it’s something I want to collect. However, those two are keepers to me. Best, my friend. Christian

I see this Sub a s a long term keeper.

Steel, black dial, durable, and damn good looking. Better late than never, right?!?

Right :-)

 By: ChristianDK : September 20th, 2019-01:23
I feel Rolex has a place in my collection. I still think they make some of the coolest tool watches. The two I have are in a way, used as such. I dont mind if they get dings and scratches. One is strictly reserved for holidays and the other I will almost ...

That was me as well back before 2014...

 By: Clueless_Collector : September 19th, 2019-13:33
mainly because I felt everyone seems to have a Rolex and I wanted to own something more stealth and different but “better” than Rolex. I wanted to be able to see the movements and appreciate the complications so that’s why my only Rolex is the Cellini Pri...

Indeed, it arrived this morning.

 By: MichaelC : September 19th, 2019-14:10
Sorry I was not clear about that! My friend's model was the same, but with the date. I preferred this no-date model. Quite a collection you have amassed there... seemingly every hot model! The irony for me is I had my name with a dealer for the white dial...

2 months is indeed very thrilling and I feel this AD is trying to giving you a gesture of good will :)

 By: Clueless_Collector : September 19th, 2019-14:32
in return you'll be their next loyal customer. I'm sure they know your awesome AP collection so it's relatively "easy" for you to do business with the brands they carry, eg. Rolex, haha. You should try the Daytona with this AD but first, your turn to show...

All agreement here. I am not into all of the Rolex nuances...

 By: MichaelC : September 19th, 2019-15:30
I don't know which models have waiting lists, which don't. Obviously I understand a Daytona is difficult. To wait over 3 years from a dealer I previously did regular business with and never receive it, crazy. But this Submariner no-date is very much my sp...

Cool...

Congratulations, Michael. I have been in a similar situation having bought and sold several Rolex watches since the early seventies. IMO, your Sub (no date) along with the Explorer I are the two best representations of Rolex.

It seems to get steep, quickly!

I better dig in my heels.

Went!

 By: MichaelC : September 19th, 2019-15:34
I apologize, I realize my post was not so clear. I updated it, I received this piece earlier today. All smiles here

Way to go! :-) (nt)

Thank you, Jim.

It sure seems like a can't-miss type of watch. Very early on for me with it, but I'm highly impressed. An old colleague was a Chrome Hearts junkie. Loved their sunglasses.

The pleasure is all mine

glad to hear about CH fans too. Cheers!!

Awesome Michael!!

the boutique at Forumn shop is our fav store

Top of my list..

 By: Echi : September 19th, 2019-20:08
But I'm not on my AD's :p Been resisting the temptation of paying a premium over list as well. Probably a que sera sera watch for me.

I would not pay a premium for this watch, an AP, or any other.

 By: MichaelC : September 19th, 2019-20:50
Personal policy of mine. We have many choices these days. I am grateful to get a call for this one though, it is spectacular.

Sub or bust..

 By: Echi : September 19th, 2019-23:59
Have not experienced a sub before.. i like the bb but have not come to terms with the snowflake hands to be honest. But you know, as an enthusiast, I think I need to round out the experience with a proper sub and after that an explorer. Thank God I'm not ...

Congratulations Michael 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

 By: 1WatchMan : September 19th, 2019-21:56
The Submariner No Date is also one of my favourite Rolex, I definitely prefer it to the version with date. And your story with thor AD, pretty much the same here. I'm giving then one last opportunity, but no more. Enjoy tour new beauty in the best health!...

This dial is so pure, it really attracts me.

 By: MichaelC : September 21st, 2019-06:52
I understand the dealer side has its points to consider. But to assure a client of something, make them wait 42 months, and then change the position - that is a deal breaker for me.

Exactly, 'pure' is the word 👌🏻

 By: 1WatchMan : September 21st, 2019-11:40
I also understand the dealer side and that's the reason why I've been so patient. I'm not someone buying only the hottest watches, I buy the ones I like (hot or not). But sometimes, I fall in love with a hot watch 😅

I guess this is a general formula for most of us ...

I was in the same shoe as you about ten years ago , the only difference was that I wanted to dislike the crown so much that I refused to try them on . Even if I New that they’re field tested , I found they’re bracelets and clasps flimsy and had no interes...

Thank you so much

I will have a closer look 😊

Thank you, and wonderful collection you have!

That root beer looks so special.

This Rolex offers more horology than people know

By: COUNT DE MONET : September 20th, 2019-07:32
Congratulations to your (first, but not last?) Rolex, my friend! It has got an in-house balance spring made from an alloy. That is something I appreciate a lot. Btw: an AP will also be recognized by many...

Thanks Count.

 By: MichaelC : September 21st, 2019-06:49
This watch seems so easy and simple, what a wonderful formula! Here in the Colorado area, I am never asked about an AP. But Rolex? Everyone knows that.

many congrats dear Michael ! great choice

wear it in great health ! best regards!

I appreciate it, thanks! [nt]
