Changi Airport Rolex Store

Mar 08, 2020,06:22 AM

So I managed to purchase a new watch from a flipper today. I paid above retail to secure a watch I had been trying to find for awhile.

Turns out the flipper works at Changi airport and has friends at the AD who give him a heads up when HOT model
Rolex come in. They hold for him “”display only” for him to collect or arrange someone who is flying in to collect duty free then flip and share the profit with the AD sales person. (His words) young kid just trying to make a buck - he even had to split the purchase over 4 credit cards... hardly a VIP.

Rolex get your channel sorted. I don’t mind you limiting supply but at least have a strategy to stop this behaviour.

The watch I collected was dated the same day!

I am not surprised because it is being practiced at most Rolex ADs here Or maybe across the globe Here you can find “fresh” pieces being sold through grey dealers at much higher price with premium above retail, which were just purchased from local ADs ver...

Sad reality, but I doubt Rolex can do anything about this shady practices.

They have so many roadblocks already in place and flippers always seem to have a new trick up they’re sleeves . At the end Rolex just makes and sells watches what the AD does it’s not possible to controll. Withholding warranty cards, limiting one model pe...

Not surprised.

Congrats on landing your coveted piece, and I hope that you enjoy its ownership. The practice that you described doesn’t surprise me at all. And Rolex is well aware of it and, by turning a blind eye, supports it. It ends up alienating some of the clientel...

totally agree. let the grey market focus on Rolex

Really don't know what to say here...

The world is filled with people who want to make a buck... The easiest way of doing so is not putting up any money to make money.

congratulations...it is a watch i like a lot !

i saw it first time in metal during the Paris GTG - the dial is spendid... i'm highly doubtful Rolex or any other brands will fix this (or can fix this) - it is all left to the market ! Best, mahesh.,

that is how businesses are done in a capitalistic society, no? one can always choose to walk away if one does not agree with the price, no?

I beg to differ

That is how corruption works. Access to supply by paying someone off who has inside access to that supply. Unless you want to classify bribery as a form of capitalism. I’m not saying the buyer is directly involved in Bribery, but the middleman and the AD ...

but if there are no buyers, who is the seller going to sell to?

don't cry bloody murder after you get what you wanted

I really don't understand your point.

As far as complaining goes. I didn’t buy one. My response to you is to correct an inaccurate posit about capitalism. By way of extreme example, many people would like to own the Mona Lisa. There are many buyers and zero sellers. Stealing the Mona Lisa is ...

u have your way of defining capitalism

The same dealer had a Rolex Daytona and was selling it over retail. Something should be done about this dealer, especially if it’s in the airport. If anything, congrats on the incredible piece and enjoy! Peter

congrats on a great piece!

not sure I can have an opinion on how it all happened, people will always try to make extra money so long as there are buyers willing to pay a premium. If you are happy with your purchase that is all that matters! Enjoy!

Rolex will be pleased to offload tonnes of unsold watches to these ADs with proportionally low supply of these sport models. Somebody are going to be suckers at the end of the day

Big Congrats

Amazing dial. I’ve been trying to get one via the AD route, beginning to think my chances are slim to none!
