The dial in flat light (realized later I should have taken a photo) looks to be a totally bland, ordinary blue. But get it out in the sun and this "linen dial" really comes alive. In the light I also came to appreciate the quality of the indexes and hands...
Is this a Shantung dial?

I’ve read that the horizontal linen dials are actually called Shantung dials, made for the Asian market in the 70s and consisting of silk. Don’t know enough about this dial variation to be certain - if someone wants to chime in ...
