Love at first sight, sort of....

Time flies.

Almost 2 decades ago, I was fascinated by the watch world and started by watch journey, the Roger Dubuis Hommage mono-pusher caught my eye and I kind of loved it at first sight.  At that time, I could not afford such piece and it could only stay in my long wishlist, though in fact, it was never easy to acquire one.

Years later, to some point, my passion on watch vanished, as my expectation was getting higher and to certain extent I could no longer afford the watch that could satisfy me (or I did not feel it worth the price tag).  Or maybe my life has changed as I have started my family and my value on material changed as well.  I feel as just happy as I wear a G-shock or a watch that costs my car now (my bottom line is, not to wear Apple Watch).

All of a sudden this watch appeared, my abandoned wishlist resurfaced, I haven't bought watches for some years and I hesitated if I should get one as I really didn't have not much passion on watch at the time.  Finger crossing for a few days and finally got it though there were some difficulties in dealing.

I think I don't need to explain why this watch is so special in this forum, it has every rarity that I look for, the brand itself is rare (I actually doubt why it could still survive nowadays), manual wind Lemania movement, mono-pusher chronograph, perfect size at 40mm, precious metal and limited production.  The worst part is that it only came with the OEM tang buckle, I really want the classic deployant buckle instead....

The ironic part is, I have only worn it once since I bought it, it has stayed in my closet ever since, I just don't have the mood to wear it, I feel more comfortable wearing my Seiko diver.  That's life, is it?

Sorry for my poor iPhone pics.

...surprised at the 40mm size. For something of that era it's larger than most.

Thanks for sharing your personal journey, and a wonderful way to come back to watches....

It's great that this passion (which probably never completely left you) has now naturally resurfaced, and thanks to a great watch to boot! Hope you'll enjoy! Best wishes.

Gorgeous piece

And lovely story. Thanks for sharing. Is the dial glossy or just the photos? I am sure you will find plenty of opportunities to wear this. It is a true beauty.

Very nice watch [nt]

2 of my loved ones ‘resurface’ from my closet to share..... they share some similarities, same size, both precious metal, both 2 register chronograph, both rarely worn.... ...

Another excellent choice...

And I would argue that this is ONE of the most beautiful chronographs produced. I personally debated for a long time between getting the hommage vs much more monopulsante and went with MM since I already have quite a few hommage in my collection. But ever...

My experience tells me

to buy the one that sings and shines to you, rational calculation does not apply to hobby.

Congrats !!

That’s a lovely piece. I have one in a similar configuration and can totally understand how you feel.
