[Novelty] Richard Mille RM063-02 World Timer

Oct 20, 2015,16:04 PM

Hi everyone,

You certainly remember Richard Mille launched at the 2013 SiHH the RM058-01 World Timer Tourbillon. It was back then the first World Timer reference of the brand.

This time, we have here a non-Tourbillon version of this quite successful complication nowadays: the RM063-02 World Timer

By the way, this RM063-02 has nothing to do with the RM063-01 (not even the same size).

The case (47 x 13.85 mm) and crown are made of Titanium.

The caliber CRMA3 with Oversized Date and World Timer complications has a 50 hours power reserve, whcih is perfect for an automatic caliber. It also includes the selector feature to wind and set the watch.

The particular setting of the World Timer moduls is made through the bezel which is directly connected to the hour hand, while the lower 24H ring (in white and blue for day and night indication) shows the time in other cities.

As in many of RM's models, baseplate and bridges are in grade-5 Titanium.

The rotor is in Rose Gold and Titanium.

A big watch (similar to the Diver references) and which however seems to be, as usual for Richard Mille, very well finished and with interesting technical features as for the World Timer modules for instance or the setting selector.

Cheers, Mark

Appreciate you posting Mark, it is a fantastic piece. Question: I can see that the cities in blue represent those with a daylight savings shift, but what about the ones in yellow?

Actually

I had similar thought: Does that mean this watch can counter for the difference caused by day light saving time? If so, FINALLY a world time watch that would prove useful THROUGHOUT the year!

So the little arrows......

.......show how to adjust for daylight savings, so in the second photo London is at midnight in winter and 0100 in Summer. The same approach is used by IWC and JLC for their world timers. Simple but effective. Regarding Southern Hemisphere, thanks for tha...

IF it's

Just the arrow indicator whereas the user needs to remember WHEN to use the arrow and WHEN not to use the arrow, then it's NOT a mechanism/complication BUILT for the purpose of solving the DST issues. Not exactly user friendly IMHO.

Indeed.

Automated recognition of daylight savings shifts would indeed be epic but this is I guess better than nothing. Not even Vacheron\'s 57 complication miracle achieved the automation feat I believe. I think the dst shift is a different day each year so it is...

I'm not even dreaming about automatic adjustment...

All I want is a manual adjustment feature/switch/button that would adjust SOME of the cities on the dial/bezel twice a year such that the world time watch would be useful throughout the year as opposed to ~6 months out of the year...

My pleasure Conkers :)

It is a very nice one indeed, especially if one is used to the bigger cases and especially the Divers. I asked myself the same question and I think it is about geographical areas too. I'll ask if I see it one day! Cheers, Mark

Love it...

This will be my first round dial RM...it's amazing. That Ti case is stunning and the dial is incredible. Perfect size IMHO as well.

Interesting opinion

I see, concerning many differnt watches, that there are very different feelings about sizes. There is no absolute right choice: it depends on our wrist's size, what we are used to seeing on our wrist, the culture etc.... Older generations tend to like sma...
