From an overnight trip to Niseko, Hokkaido 27-Feb-2013 Now, during a time of self imposed no-travel, a chance to revisit one of my favorite prefectures... An epic evening of bar hopping in sub-zero weather... carrying the Canon 5DII and EF35mm f/1.4L Than...  

of that particular moment. Looks like everyone had a blast, happy you brought your trusty camera along to be able to "freeze" time.

We ended up around 3AM and up at 6AM for breakfast, not sure how I did that ; )

I would be sleeping around breakfast! I love sleep too much. There isn't much that can keep me up these days outside worry, and a project that is due but also late. Other than that, I just sleep. zzzzzzzz Naps are the best!!

and I hear you about the second-to-last portrait... that guy was a snowboarder standing just outside the entrance to one of the bars... . Niseko is a great destination, but there are many choices in Hokkaido or Hakuba in Nagano... I haven't skied in years... 

We were supposed to be there right now actually, in Tokyo and a side trip to Hokkaido. Next year hopefully, if it can happen.

My buddy visits from Hawaii once a year and loves skiing so we met up in Hokkaido... it was a candid evening... Casey

everyone was having a relaxed time, most after a long day on the slopes... we kept running into the same revelers or moved from place to place as a group... perfect atmosphere for portraits... Casey

standing at next to the entrance... maybe waiting for his girlfriend. I met him later at a different pub where they were together. IMHO it's a good combo from Canon... enough improvement from the 5D... which was an exceptional FF camera introduction at th...

same sensor size as the 350D... didn't see much use with the APS-C format ; ) In general I am a big fan of 100mm (range), I have five.... Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro Canon S-Mount 135mm f/3.5 Pentax M42 SMC Takumar 135mm f/3.5 Nikon Ai'ed Nikkor-P 10.5cm f... 

Must have been a blast to get back to roving and shooting. I love the second shot-truly a night shot.

I really miss moving around the city or remote photo shoots... I was set at ISO 100 (no flash), could have opted for 1600 with the 5DII, so definitely "low light" ; ) Casey

we've been travelling to Hokkaido every yearend for the past few years and still have the bookings for air tickets and accommodation for this yearend. hoping we don't have to cancel ...  

Nice photo, may I ask were it was taken... ? Hope your travels work out for the 2020-21 winter season... not too optimistic for the rest of 2020 at this point. Take care, Casey
