the summer storm...

We have been having some weather lately... Monday a front moved through in about 30 minutes.  The expression "rain coming down in buckets" was a gross understatement... and just as suddenly it was over

Thanks for looking,
Casey

Photos taken with the Fuji x100t... for the "after" photo I was using a 0.9 ND Grad filter (three stops) hand held in front of the lens... no time to pull out the filter holder ; ) Shot through the balcony window so some spots of rain visible...

x100t is ok, understanding and seeing the light is something else

plus composition...i have to say everything on the pictures you take is perfect, i'm a little bit jealous, i understand better studio lights than natural light and i wish i could take exterior pictures as good as you do.

I have zero experience with studio lights...

and minimal hands-on with flash... so I tend not to go there - which might be a mistake or as I like to think of it "an area yet unexplored". Bad weather almost always improves a photo... over the years there are four five things that helped me regarding ...

studio lights you can control them

natural light you have to guess, play with it and of course catch a moment with the good light, much more difficult to me but ok i have to practice more

Nearly unrecognizable environment. Be better weather-wise! Thank you for the impressive comparison. Cheers, Filip

The station escalator was under water three steps - 0.9 ?? ; ) The rain came too quickly to put out the sand bags... Today they are doing maintenance so I had to climb under my own power..

We had similar conditions today.

Unfortunately I was driving. Floods everywhere. Nice photos, Casey.

as well the metro area seemed to be under water recently... all this rain on windows got me thinking about 'things' that go between the lens and the subject... not a gobo in the strict sense, more like a specific type of filter ; )

I wish we could get some of that rain

We’ve had just 3.3” since Oct 1 of last year (when the “weather season” begins). We are on track to have the driest year since record-keeping began in 1850. Our whole last month has looked just like this coming week’s forecast: The only thing between came...

Sometimes we can't choose our subject...

Hot air and a pile of water bottles would make a good theme ; ) When I lived in Thousand Oaks & Woodland Hills it was like "just another day in Southern Cal." I need my four seasons ; )
