The Japanese indie film "万引き家族" (direct translation "Shoplifting Family") looks to be excellent and it seems to have won the top prize at Cannes.  The 2018 Polish historical period movie "Zimna wojna" (Cold War) is likewise very well recieved...

It's getting to be that time of year again:  the Oscar nominations will be announced on Jan. 22 and the 91st Oscars are scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 24.

I have always thought that photography is about telling stories with the images you take. So I would say story. Your photograph can not be technically perfect, but if it tells a story, people with the sensitivity will like it. And even if nobody does, you...

Which is great news... the 'problem' I have with seeing foreign language films here in Tokyo is that the movies are normally in the original language with Japanese sub-titles... I remember watching the English version of "Dancing with Wolves" in Zurich wh...
