Shimokita-zawa, Tokyo

Lived here for many years and enjoyed the street life.  The station building has been under renovation for 15 years... first the tracks went underground (separate levels for local & express tracks).  Now the station building and surrounding area is being built up.  Every 6 months or so I like to revisit the old neighborhood.

01) Two train lines cross above & below ground

02) New station building

03) Lots of foot traffic

04) and shopping, eating, drinking places

05) Plug and Play

06) Two new food experiences

"Frankie's Melbourne Style Espresso Stand" featuring Flat White, Piccolo, and Bachelor...

"Arirang Hotdog" the mysterious hot dog that is trending at the moment.  It's from Korea and it's a cheese-filled American hot dog... deep-fried with a coating and dipped in sugar... get in line.

Thanks for looking,
Casey (aka cshimokita)

That’s one of the things I noticed most in Japan. Reminds me ... My brother used to work at Microsoft (long ago), and when they moved their HQ to Redmond he said the old buildings weren’t worth saving because the walls and ceilings were so filled with cab...

I had been to the Redmond campus in the late 1980s when working for a Japanese IT company
