Not much of a compact film camera user through the years...

My very first camera was an old Voigtländer folder when I was in my teens, the problem was that it used an older/odd sized film that was similar in size to 120 format... the 120 kept jamming during advance or rewind so that didn't work out... moved onto 35mm SLR film cameras starting with a Pentax SP, Agfa, Pentax SPF, and currently shooting the Nikon F3P (not counting various digital solutions... I also have a couple of Leica RF - film cams, which are small but heavy).

I looked at film P&S or "pocket" sized film bodies... really enjoyed a Casio but a sailing trip in the Caribbean and it was salty toast... also hard to move away from the SPF and F3P ; )

Various Contax models have a lot of drawing power, but I have way too much gear already... not really a collector...

Good hunting with the bucket list kit...  Drop me a PM/email if you're looking for something that's hard to find and/or unique to Japan... I have a friend here in Tokyo who runs a small business hunting for rare cameras... expensive, but we are talking grail gear ; )

Nikon Ti analog dials

Nikon Ti28 and Ti35 camera analog dials from my luxury point and shoot film camera collection. These cameras are a must for anyone enamoured with watches and photography. I don’t own any chronographs but these two are just as good 😌 ...

Back in my art director days...

...my photographer had one of these as his 'carry around' camera. I always thought the analog dials were very cool looking. Took pretty good photos too.

Those are really cool

Do the dials register when the shoot button is pushed half way down? What year are these magnificent pieces ?

Yes that’s correct, a half push starts the needle dance 💃

I believe the Ti35 was released in 1993 and the Ti28 in 1994. The 1990s were an incredible time for high quality compact film cameras, known as luxury point and shoots.

It’s funny those are two that I don’t have 😔

I do use the digital Ricoh GR though, great camera 👍

It's a fantastic camera both for its usability and for its results. Mine is the 2013 first version...

which is still great, not often said about a six year old digital. I'm thinking of getting the GRIII though...

Here to second that. I've had the same model for years and it's excellent.

Before the APS-C Ricoh GR I've also used the GR-D from 2013. That little thing was also super fun to use and the jpeg b&w out of camera was very film like. Sadly that one has stopped working but for a 16 year old digital fixed lens compact that's not ...

Two sought-after cameras...

The historical competition for the Nikon 28Ti was the Contax T3 (with Zeiss lens), Minolta TC-1 (with Rokkor lens), and Ricoh the GR1v... the Nikon was the clear winner in the design category and remains very popular today... a great little camera, the cu...

Hi Casey, I thought you would know about these and the other luxury point and shoots 🙂

I do use these, although not for a little while. I also have a black Contax T3 which is perhaps the steel Daytona of the bunch 😉 Many of these cameras can only readily be found in Japan, where they are often kept in plastic shrink wrap. As mentioned above...

That's another I don't have. My Contax TVSII is one that gets overshadowed by the T2 (of which I own two, one being an unused Titanium Black) and T3 and is a fantastic camera to use...

with its 28-56 lens allowing for versatility albeit slightly slower at 3.5-6.5. My collection is focussed on these Nikons and Contax but I also really love my Konica Hexar Silver and little Yashica T4 Super.
