that if the product has English (or other language) menus, then the support organization in Japan must service that product... which means multi-lingual staff. Much less expensive to support one language only.
In the past when I checked on English user manuals the reply was that the English version was not legally binding and I had to sign a waiver stating as such before I could download the Docu. The company seems to be managed by the lawyers in the boardroom.
My Kyocera phone has multiple languages and the English manual is available on-line.
No support, no sale...
