Moving day...

Nov 13, 2018,22:58 PM

These three guys are reportedly the best piano movers in Japan with a reputation for accepting jobs that no one else will touch... so yesterday was a walk in the park...  20 minutes after arrival the piano was in the truck.

The last 15 days I have been helping my friends move house... the fridge on the second floor was even easier than the piano ; )

Thanks for looking,
Casey

It was amazing to watch these "pros" work. Two are brothers and the "young" guy in the orange jacket was the "helper" who anticipated every move. The "short" brother is a really funny guy, while the taller brother doesn't talk at all ; ) ... what a pair. ...

Sounds like fun. Such handy people can be really special in my experience as well.

We seriously need these types of trucks in the USA

 By: reintitan : November 14th, 2018-00:39
More and more high rise housing is being built with condos and townhouses now regularly built up to 3-4 storeys high to cram as many units in per lot as possible. These trucks as well as conveyor belt ramps that reach up to 2nd and 3rd floor balconies tha...

The truck is a Toyota 2,000 kg with a Tadano Zest cargo crane

The cab seats three... recent years we see a lot of these trucks as the newer 'fridges' are too large to fit many stairwells...

Mike... all four outriggers were down

Do they move washing machines?

 By: cazalea : November 14th, 2018-07:56
I love this series of photos, Casey. Thanks for the safe, curbside perspective. Alas, I had to replace our washer over the last weekend, and it fits so tightly we ended up buying a refurbished old washer and fitting it into our old washer's metal cabinet....

Here comes the washing machine...

Typical of many houses (including mine) there is a washing machine but no dryer. We air dry by hanging the washed clothes on the balcony. Saves space, less expensive, and eco friendly. The nightly weather report actually indicates if "tomorrow" is good fo...

We do clothes drying on the line too, to give a "Beverly Hillbillies" look to our canyon neighbors

but I have to ask - do you have one of these? Saves lots of plumbing by sharing one faucet across basin and tub. I suppose if the pipe were a bit longer it might reach the toilet too! This was in a Soviet hotel where we stayed a couple years ago. Mike ...

clever plumbing...

 By: cshimokita : November 14th, 2018-19:44
in most homes the tub has it's own room as well the toilet is in a different room. A typical room layout is (1) toilet, (2) wash basin and laundry machine, and (3) tub shower. The back of the toilet has an bowl with water "tap" that fills the toilet when ...

I can imagine moving day in Tokyo...

...would be quite an adventure. Viewing these pictures I couldn't help wondering where the roadrunner and coyote were hiding... : )

the way the "guys" were up & down three stories was roadrunner-ish...

and not a wasted movement.
