Fantastic photos. Makes me feel humble and wonder why we are destroying it

They have oral history of having to flee several times as the glaciers came down, then move back after they receded. In Western recorded history we can document about this much (images from park brochure) ...

is it me or are all those “totem wall” perimeter faces different??

It tells a long story but our narrator who is Tlingit herself, was on her first day, and got us all (including herself) a bit bewildered as she told it. She’s primarily a fisherman not tourist guide. I remember Raven and Bear clans ... ...  

Judging from some recent youtube videos, being in a small boat or walking around at the toe of a glacier is not the safest thing to do... Lovely series of photos of a beautiful location... enjoy. Casey

Our captain stayed about a mile away. The photo with people walking along the bottom shows another group of loony people who did get off their ship to explore. Even with our small boat or kayaks we didn't get anywhere near the edge. It was constantly crac...
