I have been thinking about all that stained glass in Notre Dame

Apr 20, 2019,07:20 AM

and remembering that before I collected watches, I collected images (and real panels) of stained glass. I guess this is a collection I've never shared before.

Most of these are from England or Scotland -- perhaps 100-200 years old:

Except the following door panels which are 10 years old, in a door I had built to match the rest of the house's windows.

This window has no color but is leaded, beveled, textured glass

This one is a full-height panel, say the size of a door

While these three are bedroom windows

Does anyone see a grasshopper there?  Bullseye!

I tried my hand at it during collage, it's a challenging art form... the pattern, cutting the glass, then fitting, stretching, and soldering the lead Beautiful selection of examples and styles... I love the color and texture. not to mention the twins in t...

Lovely.

beatiful compositions. A great theme for photography as well. Did you ever see the windows made by Marc Chagall?

Yes, I have been to the church in Mainz

I just can't find my photos from that trip to share here - this is from wikipedia. Being in that church is like being underwater! ...

I had the same problem

I took a lot on our honeymoon but I couldn’t find them either. A little job for the weekend.

Wow. What a thing to collect!

You amaze me every time Mike! I'm deeply saddened by the Notre Dame fire.
