This is exactly the kind of critique I'm looking for. And what you say is very true and will help me see things in a different perspective and I think your analysis is spot on. On #2 I was hoping the lady would be out of the frame but alas my patience ran...

If only the little girl could have been alone it would have been a perfect photo. Well framed and with content that makes you ask questions to know more.

and an invaluable source of information and motivation. I totally agree with you on your assessment that the crowd outside as a whole didn't project an image that made it interesting whereas if the little girl was alone, a sense of mystery or abandonment ... 

My problem with #1 is its narrow height, which makes it hard to find the focus spot. And the composition is awkward-people down below and then a rather long empty building. I'm not sure I'm articulating this correctly, but there seems to be no balance to ... 

My original intention with #1 was to focus on the little girl in blue. She seemed lost and alone and separate from the rest of the crowd. But the effect didn't really come through in the pic. I suppose. In #2 the lady with the boy was all over the place a... 

I have a problem with the height of the photo but you did succeed in isolating the little girl. As I stated, #2 works. And I can supply plenty beers when we have our discussion about #3. Which I greatly look forward to. Maybe you can arrange for the lady ... 

number 2 is the most interesting because it shows a woman entertaining herself taking pictures of jail cells which at one time held misery but now is amusement. Interestingly your framing puts her behind bars as well. The first one is visually interesting... 

I like your opinion and the fact that you think #2 would be too sterile without the women. Subconsciously or not I will most time include a person or persons into my shots because I think it gives the pic. some life and an emotional content. In this parti...

1) timing is everything, I like the concept... and her dress and hair are so 1950s. The challenge is the crowd - too many people with cameras and the mood is gone. Try from a lower angle to focus on the little girl? 2) I agree with other comments about th... 

The second picture gets me because of the the play of angles and lines...and the red fire hose on the right gives some “shock” to the consistent colours. Third picture because it just feels warm and happy.

The important thing is, is that you took the shots. One thing I noticed is that everything is in focus in these images. Which makes sense for #3, and #2. Re #1, if you had a shallow depth-of-field, w a focus on the little girl, that pic would tell a diffe... 

I would do exactly as you suggested on #1 if I had to do it again. Also, I am like you in regards to post processing, I tend to leave it the way it was shot. Cheers fernando

even the red hose is distracting as for #1 maybe you should have waited a bit longer to get something more interesting, this is the issue with most of us as traveler photographer, not enough time to wait for a better moment. Cheers,
