was a photographer, writer, curator, magazine & picture editor, lecturer, public speaker, university teacher, and mentor.  Known for his work with "Creative Camera (1968–1969) and "Album" (1970–1971).  Author of more than 20 books on the history and criticism of photography. - source Wikipedia

I am a huge 'fan' of Bill Jay's work... and recommend any of his books... e.g. "On Being a Photographer: a Practical Guide" 1997 with David Hurn -or- "Cyanide and Spirits: an Inside-Out View of Early Photography" (1991).

Here is a link to "Do Not Bend: The Photographic Life of Bill Jay" (running time 1 hour 35 minutes).

Did not know of him beforehand. I do enjoy the Janus philosophy very much, it was a point I had made myself the first New Year's post that I shared here on January 1st . Thanks! Filip

That quote has a William Faulkner feel to it...

without any negative connotations. Photographic history seen as a positive aspect. At 95 minutes the video is might be a bit long for casual viewing, but if you find the time there is some value there. Casey
