Absolutely different look and feel...
Jun 13, 2019,17:52 PM
I have been reading some discussion lately regarding using crop vs. different FLs. Sure crop gets you the required framing but the look and feel are different. For me portrait will always be at 85 or 100 (135 format). Not to say that I don't like non-trad photos ; )
Leica Q2 background: Leica Summilux 28mm f/1.7 ASPH., full frame sensor, and digital frame selector (digital zoom) of 28 mm, 35 mm, 50 mm, 75 mm
Shooting at 28 and cropping with the PC vs. "digital frame selector" seem to give the same result (i.e. the Q2 does not actually zoom in the traditional / optical sense). I would consider the Q2 to be a fixed lens camera.
Could I live with a 28mm fixed lens (FF) camera? Yes, I think I could, as a "social media" plus walk around camera. I don't think I would give up any of the existing kit. I have been using (and continue to use) the Fuji x100t with a 35mm equiv, my least favorite FL.
As a general statement I like the Leica Q... it is what it is.
