My first airshow in a very, very long time. Fuji XT-1, 50mm f2 (75mm full-frame equivalent). We lucked out with a great spot, making a longer telephoto lens a little less necessary (which is just as well, as I don't own one πŸ˜‚) The US navy blue angels: Goo...

Great airplanes!

I love those Mustangs, and the Blue Angels are mesmerizing to watch.... Thanks for the excellent pictorial, cheers, Filip

Thanks Filip!

The blue angels really are something else. Photos are great, but the experience really isn't complete without the roar of those engines... if you ever get the chance to see them, jump on it!

100%

I see I've found a fellow airplane nerd

Thanks Fernando!

We got so lucky with our spots, the whole show was centered around where we were standing!

Cue the Top Gun music!

I'm hearing "Danger Zone" and "Great Balls of Fire" in my ears!

I was thinking the same!

Can they pull out of coffins corner doing 10 G's?

And if they can... Will they survive it?

 By: patrick_y : November 4th, 2022-06:40
I'm told that normal civilians like us would be vomitting mid flight in these planes. Even if the pilots weren't doing what they considered to be acrobatic maneuvers. And I wonder when people like us would start blacking out. Race car drivers in F1 can ex...

IMHO its not only the G

 By: Gelato Monster : November 4th, 2022-11:56
The three dimensionality of G, the lost sense of horizon up/down/sideways, sudden change of unending rise, weightless drop, skid and slip turn and twist, the response to etc, etc so many uncomparably orgasmic feeling and sensation. Oh my God

I'm imagining how my mind can interpret a weightless drop while also upside down...

I won't even know which way is up when I land. I'll probably want to walk the ground on all fours.

Lol. It is addictive

and get the opportunity to see what was used so heroically by the airmen and support personal of the time. Great post... image-wise and historically. Casey .

Apparently this was a light year for historic aircraft

 By: mhz vph : November 4th, 2022-01:45
There was bad weather the day before, so many planes couldn't make it. I was still deeply impressed. Never thought I'd get to see a 262 in the air.

My pleasure!

Some would prefer if that C-17 wasn't parked there, but I think it really added to the photos. Otherwise it would just be some small dots against a cloudy sky.

Thank you πŸ™

Glad you enjoyed

so many gorgeous machine in that era

 By: Gelato Monster : November 4th, 2022-11:35
the muscular Corsair, the sexy Spitfire, the DH Mosquito, the Lancaster and personally the sexiest of the era the grumman Tigercat If a bit more modern I am enamored by the british Vulcan (IMHO it is the most gorgeous and sexiest bomber of all time, well ...

I'm glad I'm not the only one here who is obsessed ;)

 By: mhz vph : November 4th, 2022-21:54
I love the vulcan, but I think my personal favorite is the B-1: Gorgeous, fast, and a truly insane mission profile (high speed, low level). ...

agree B1 is alo gorgeous.

 By: Gelato Monster : November 4th, 2022-23:26
Personally I like more bombers than fighter

Wonderful!

There’s an assumption that you need massive lenses to capture this kind of activity but you have proven that the real skill is to get the best out of the equipment you have with you. Great shots!

Thank you!!

I will admit, there were many times I wished I had a longer lens. But I agree, the best camera is the one you have with you!
