My dad will always tell me stories about what it was like here when he was in college, and there were maybe 400,000k people in the whole metro area. But Austin is still decidedly smaller than Houston and Dallas metros for now. And the food scene is indeed...

Ha great story. Indeed where we lived people thought of themselves as Texans first then Americans. Back then I met folks who basically claimed that Texas never joined the US, but the other states joined Texas. Or they claimed Texas was the biggest state. ...

I havent been to Austin in like 25 years and that building sure wasn’t there back then. But I loved the city and its people (obviously since I used to live in Texas as well, but in a slightly more remote city: Wichita Falls Texas between Dallas and Amaril...

I hear Wichita Falls is a nice city. Never been sadly, it's just a very long drive to get there from Austin. Austin has indeed grown a lot - that building is far from the only new one. But with the lake and hills its still quite pretty.
