November 8-12, 2019 in Karuizawa, Nagano-Ken. Just five days, four nights... the weather was sunny and warm. A chance to visit familiar locations at the approx peak of color... I have never seen it so brilliant there. I was using the Canon 5D Mark II and ...  

and a good time to travel as for the most part the rains have stopped and mid week transportation can be quite reasonable. As you mention, the colors can be very nice. Casey

I especially love no 3,4,5,6. I have to visit more of the Japanese country side one day.

the red was quite brilliant in person and also with the print, less so via the internet... №06 and №5 are right up there on my favorites list from the trip. When visiting remote areas one issue is that the smaller train lines are being phased out and alth... 

I suppose it only turns so bright red just before dropping its leaves? What is driving in Japan like? Difficult? Thank you Christian

One of the biggest differences is driving on the left but the real challenge is road signage... I drove motorcycle in Tokyo for years and only got nipped once for turning right from the middle lane... my bad. I have a Japanese drivers license, so not sure... 

I have started looking in to it. Seems I need to get an international drivers license, (with pre 2018 conditions!?) I will report back once im deeper ;-) Best Christian

№03 has some subtle tones that turned out quite nice and what attracted me to the location of №05 was the background and contrast of the yellow against the blue sky (deepened with the use of a PL filter). It was a good break from the city. Casey

I particularly like 01,03, and 05.....something in 05 keeps me coming back to it

I appreciate the kind words Karuizawa is only one hour by Shinkansen from Tokyo... №05 is one of my favorites as well... f/5.6 - 1/1000 - ISO 1600 and the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro is a gem ! It was great to meet you guys during your time in Tokyo. Casey...

Even though it's in Nagano Prefecture, they don't get much snow and many of the shops are closed (the Outlet Mall is open). The back streets are lovely but it's not what I would call a prime winter destination. It depends on what you're looking for... Cas... 

I'll be in Tokyo in the week of Dec 16th, so may spend a day there if it's interesting.
