 By: Mike H : June 7th, 2020-18:18
For which one(s) do you vote and why ? I mean purely and exclusively from the photographic point of view. ...

lol... [nt]

 By: mahesh : June 8th, 2020-05:41

 By: cshimokita : June 7th, 2020-18:38

#2, I love the light exposure

 By: WatchAl : June 7th, 2020-18:40
Also I am a sucker For blondes.

Backlight in hair is always giving a nice effect

Thanks for your vote

Number 3 Mike

 By: sham1 : June 7th, 2020-18:48
I feel the others are posing and I like the focus of the shot.

Well done Mike. You did justice to them all!

 By: fernando : June 7th, 2020-19:14
But if forced to pick, I would go for the first for the pose, framing, lighting and the simplicity of the shot. The second one comes close for the sharply focused eyes, the back light that highlights her hair and her expression. Did you use any fill light...

Thanks for your kind words fernando

 By: Mike H : June 8th, 2020-13:14
Marie is #1 on the podium, Dominika is her dauphine πŸ˜‰ For photo #2, I used natural light from window as backlight and white reflector to light up shadows on the face (no fill-flash)

No 3 [nt]

 By: Seconds : June 7th, 2020-20:24

Number one because of the honesty and straight forwardness

 By: George Gently : June 7th, 2020-20:53
Runner up is number 3; it makes you wanting to know what she’s thinking. Regards, George

Thanks for your vote

Nr. 3

 By: @lberti : June 7th, 2020-22:10
Its the colours i guess

Maybe the colors, the light, the pose, the model

 By: Mike H : June 8th, 2020-14:09
At the end the result is there #3 scores one more point

I can see why #3 is the most popular.

 By: Bill : June 7th, 2020-22:25
The new world of Instagram is non committed the subject always looks away so the public can stare with indifference. We are in another world of art where the searing look of the subject makes the viewers responsible for their participation as if they are ...

Maybe Bill, at least it is an explanation

 By: Mike H : June 8th, 2020-14:13
But even when she looks straight at the camera, Constance is very convincing too...

#3!! [nt]

 By: KonaJ : June 7th, 2020-22:43

3 and 1. In that order [nt]

 By: Gelato Monster : June 7th, 2020-23:16

The judge may not comment on the votes but only take note of them...

 By: Mike H : June 8th, 2020-14:24
...but I fully agree πŸ˜‰πŸ‘

#3 increases her lead, thank you for her

 By: Mike H : June 8th, 2020-14:29
Thanks also for your comments πŸ‘

Let me start by saying wow they are all great

 By: Jurry : June 8th, 2020-00:11
If I would have to pick a favorite it would be nr 4. Reason: 1) I find just a bit to dark 2) just a bit too much light from the back 3) no eyes 4) full face but the main reason I would pick 4 is that it seems more natural less posed than the others. Let i...

Many thanks for your detailed comments

 By: aris d : June 8th, 2020-01:38

Hmmm.

 By: nafetS : June 8th, 2020-02:30
My favorites are 1 and 3, followed by 4 and β€žlastβ€œ 2. 1: The woman is captured very well, her pose is very well suited and lighting is very good. The background is my least favorite part of the picture. Reminds me too much of standard backgrounds used for...

That's an uncalled for and rather brusque comment.

 By: fernando : June 8th, 2020-03:31
We are here in the photography sub forum sharing a common interest and most if not all are hobbyists who enjoy making photos that are understandably not up to professional standards. As the saying goes, if you have nothing nice to say .....

It is your right not to like these photos but for sure they are not disrespectful to anyone...

 By: Mike H : June 8th, 2020-14:39
...and there are only few watches on the Photography forum

#1.

 By: TheMadDruid : June 8th, 2020-04:12
No...#2. Nooo, hmm, #3, #3!!! No...No. YES! #4! YES! #4! wait...

Thanks for your vote my friend πŸ™

 By: Mike H : June 8th, 2020-14:45
I understand the choice wasn’t easy πŸ˜‰

All are fun and interesting. The one thing I would look at though is on the last one.....

 By: Blansky : June 8th, 2020-06:24
to keep the viewers eyes on the face, crop out the legs. Not only are you drawn there due to the contrast between the green and skin tone, but the knee looks derformed due to the shirt blocking some of it. I'd crop the bottom to remove the legs.

Poor " legless " girl. ;)

All but number 1. No offense but she

looks like a 12 year old all made up.

No offense at all, it is your right to have this feeling but fyi...

...she is 24 and just got a baby in April

Congrats to her.

Shows how much looks can be deceiving.

I'm a novice. Not well versed in the art of photography.

 By: U3O8 : June 8th, 2020-07:34
Are we discussing these photos from the artistic point of view like paintings or which portrait is a nice photo?

Actually feel free to express your point of view...

 By: Mike H : June 8th, 2020-15:19
...of course provided it is respecting the models and the opinions of others. You are actually expected to pick one (or two) photos that speak to you, to your heart and if possible explain why you like it more.

As someone who was responsible for approving thousands of photos over my career as an advertising creative director...

 By: Emil Wojcik : June 8th, 2020-14:23
...I have to say your first photo is as good as any professional portrait. It's the best lit, most flattering of the group. The simplicity of the shot, and more specifically the lighting, keeps the focus on the model and nothing extraneous. Assuming that'...

Wow many thanks Emil for your kind comments

 By: Mike H : June 8th, 2020-15:24
Your detailed comments are highly appreciated πŸ™πŸ™. Marie will be proud of your vote πŸ‘

They are all excellent. Really!

 By: ChristianDK : June 9th, 2020-13:19
However, to answer your question, my pick is the first one. The reason is the intensity in her eyes. I feel as if we have eye contact. The tighter crop makes the eyes bigger and more important. I am wondering if it is a different focal length than the oth...

Many thanks for detailed comments

Your vote for Marie is duly noted and appreciated πŸ™

I’m going to be controversial here.

 By: EinPa : June 11th, 2020-04:42
Technically all are fine. But all are lacking. To me, the real art of portraiture is to capture the uniqueness of the person you are shooting. I don’t see that any of these shots achieve that. So for me, none of these are good, they all fail. Sorry to be ...

You are expressing your opinion...

 By: Mike H : June 11th, 2020-17:20
...and this is what was requested. I was not fishing for compliments but to be frank I am surprised by your tone to express the fact you do not appreciate these photos. Let's put it this way I respect your opinion but if I would have posted a no appreciat...

Technically as I have said they are fine and by fine I mean quite good.

 By: EinPa : June 11th, 2020-17:26
I am sorry if the tone was wrong. I try to get to the point and sometimes it comes off wrong. I would say that from a purely commercial photography perspective all of these are fine and I am sure that any client looking for a headshot would be more than h...

Great lighting and the sparkle of her eyes is magical.
