Although I’m a keen amateur photographer I don’t usually go for street photography

….. but on a recent trip to Paris I took my Leica CL out of mothballs ...

Very nice.

Both photos are rich with contrast and detail.

Many thanks

For a small unobtrusive camera it produces a large image so there’s plenty to work with post production. I always shoot DNG which makes retrieving detail easier.

There’s plenty of charm to capture

and thanks for the complement - I’m glad that you think I’ve captured the essence of the area!

How come....

you are making an assumption that the person sat on the bench in the first image is homeless!?....

'Without a place to go'....

Clearly, I've no clue what this implies other than homelessness........

Well you did fantastic! Love the mood of these shots

Then full image in color was nothing to write home about. But cropping and B&W conversion made all the difference

Street seems to come quite natural...

Even if you say that you don't usually go for it 😉 Seems like a perfect camera for a road trip where you want something small but more than a smartphone. How do you find using the CL? I like the rendering, composition, and content of both images. Specific...

Thanks Casey.

The CL is a great little camera and with the 18mm lens (27mm full frame equivalent) and a 25MP DNG image there’s plenty of potential for post production editing. I researched before buying a few years back and the wide dynamic range is what drew me to thi...

Thank you for the follow-up information...

I am a fan of 28mm (actual or full frame equivalent)... I also have and enjoy the CV15, which makes the 28mm seem normal ;-) Casey .

Many thanks Yacomino

Took the opportunity to collect a strap from ABP Concept also while I was here!

The shop is quite interesting as you correctly guessed.

I picked up a brown alligator strap for my Duometre Chronograph. JLCs standard strap measures 80/120mm. This is too long and pushes the deployant way too far around my 17.2cm wrist. They have made a 70/115mm strap for me - no holes on the 115mm strap so I...

Lovely photos

What is the post processing effect you used on this

 By: EinPa : April 26th, 2022-12:53
I’d like to try it. I’ve seen some black and white portraits using a similar boost and they are quite stunning.

Sorry - just picked this up now. Everything was done on the iPhone. Cropping and edits in Lightroom App and then switched over to PS Express and tried the high contrast B&W filters.

The important thing is to get as much dynamic range in the original image. The Leica CL shooting in DNG format provides this.
