I went to the office today for the first time in over a month.
Streets, restaurants and even shops were all busy, traffic largely back to normal. I knew the restos in my residential neighbourhood were doing just fine, but I was surprised to see expensive places near my office in TST (quite close to where Fernando was!), previously frequented mostly by visitors from Mainland China, busy as well.
Snap from Central this afternoon below.
In all of this I must say how fortunate we have been here - a confluence of culture, circumstance, policy and a capable health system - to have not had a lockdown like so many other places, while keeping case numbers and deaths down. I havenβt spent so much time without flying anywhere since I moved here almost 7 years ago; I miss it, but itβs rather nice thinking how my carbon footprint has shrunk. And yes, you do get accustomed to wearing a mask!
