The back story is simple... it's the end of the year and people visit the neighborhood shrine.  The lanterns are adverts for local businesses, naturally paid for by the companies in support of the shrine... that and good luck charms, donations, events... particularly around the holidays are the main source of income.  

She does have an attitude ; )

I managed to shoot one roll of ACROS Neopan 100 Version II and I am impressed. Very flat and easy to scan and initial impression is good contrast and clean shadows... but I need more time to analyse. So far I am very pleased with the results from Hokkaido...
